Caterpillar 320D excavator is an improved design based on the Cat320D. Its electronically controlled direct injection engine design is tailored to adapt to the quality of Chinese oil products and aims to improve fuel economy. This excavator is not only a model dedicated to the Chinese market, but also has won the favor of many users due to its unique engine technology.
The Cat 320D is equipped with a Cat C6.4 engine with a displacement of 7.1L and a rated power of 104kW (139 horsepower). It is equipped with an electric speed governor to control the mechanically driven low-pressure fuel injection system. Direct injection technology makes the engine more adaptable to low-quality fuel and effectively reduces fuel consumption. In addition, the fuel-saving mode function brings significant energy-saving benefits to users.

However, there are different opinions on the specific configuration of the Cat 320 D engine in the market. It is rumored that the model may be equipped with C6.4 and C6.6 electronically controlled engines and C7.01 direct injection engines, and the prices of different configurations vary. However, it is currently understood that the Cat 320D is usually equipped with an electronically controlled direct injection engine, and the specific configuration needs to be determined according to actual conditions.
The upper frame design of the Caterpillar Cat 320D excavator is unique, with an inverted “T”-shaped crossbeam and cleverly welded to the box-section “X” structure body, further strengthening the stability of the adjacent crawler support roller frame. Its crawler chain adopts a grease lubrication design, and the grease is tightly enclosed between the pin and the bushing, effectively preventing the intrusion of dust and debris. In addition, the Cat320D2 also provides a variety of boom options, which can flexibly adapt to various working conditions and meet the specific needs of users.

The 5.7-meter heavy-duty (HD) boom is designed for high-intensity operations.
The 2.9-meter heavy-duty multi-function bucket rod is perfectly adapted to loading and trenching needs.
5m heavy-duty bucket arm, with large bucket, is more efficient.
2m large bucket excavation boom, improves working capacity.
4m large bucket excavation bucket arm, suitable for large earthwork.
2m extra-long boom option, meets the needs of ultra-large space operation.
Power performance

320D2 is indeed slightly inferior to EFI in direct injection technology, but its fuel consumption and durability are better. Some customers mistakenly thought that the new 323 was not as fast as the old one, which may be because they did not understand the default economic mode of Carter’s new models. If necessary, you can easily switch to power mode through the dashboard to increase speed and power.

In addition, the D2 series has been improved in fuel consumption, large and small arms and chassis, which are more suitable for mining operations. The D series is more suitable for earthwork, but the speed is slightly slower. The machine can reach about 1600 rpm with 8-grid throttle, and the speed can reach 1800 rpm at full throttle, which can easily cope with both heavy work and earthwork.
It is worth noting that the machine has two different configurations: 105 horsepower and 138 horsepower. If you need to buy the D2 series for heavy work, it is recommended to choose the 138 horsepower version to ensure sufficient power. Otherwise, the work efficiency may be affected due to insufficient power.
